| Track title-towns
Several local boys and girls track and field athletes had big days at the MHSAA state finals June 5. Some brought home state titles, while others finished All-State or ended the season with personal bests.

As far as state champs, in Division 2 at Zeeland, Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day’s Kendall Baisden led the way, winning a pair of titles and setting a new record in the girls competition.
Baisden broke the D-2 state finals record in the 400-meter race and won the 100 dash.
She turned in a blazing time of 54.91 seconds in the 400, breaking the record of 56.17 that had stood since 2000 and was set by Sara Jane Baker of Mattawan.
Bloomfield Hills Lahser’s Joylisa Davis, meanwhile, took first in the girls long jump.
In the boys competition, Country Day’s Dartis Willis won the high jump event.
In D-4, Birmingham Roeper’s Brianna Ratchford took home the girls 100 hurdles crown.
