MOUNT CLEMENS — Michigan State Police are searching for Deandre Edmund Brown, a 27-year-old black male from Detroit who is wanted for kidnapping and raping his ex-girlfriend.

According to Sgt. Detective David Robertson with the Michigan State Police Metro North Post in Oak Park, at 11 p.m. on July 22, the woman was working at a store in Mount Clemens when Brown, her ex-boyfriend, arrived there and forced her into a vehicle.

“The victim was at her place of employment in Mount Clemens when she was approached by her ex-boyfriend who was armed with a handgun at the time,” Robertson explained.

Deandre then forced Robertson to drive to Detroit, where he took her behind an abandoned school and sexually assaulted her. The suspect next drove to an area of abandoned homes, where he threatened to kill the victim and dispose of her body there. Deandre also threatened to kill himself.

Robertson said that the victim refused to get out of the car, so Deandre drove to an apartment complex and decided to flee the scene. After Deandre jumped out of the car, the victim got away.

“When he got out of the car and ran from the scene she got behind the wheel of the car and drove out of the parking lot to escape,” he said.

From there, the victim called 911. Police received the call at about 4 a.m.

“She had been held captive for five hours before she contacted the police,” said Robertson.

Michigan State Police were able to obtain a six-count felony arrest warrant. So far, Deandre has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, kidnapping, armed robbery, car jacking and unlawful imprisonment, although Robertson said the charges may change as the case develops.

Currently, police are focused on finding Deandre.

“We’re actively looking to find him at this time,” said Robertson. “Anybody with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact the local police or state police.”

Those with information on the case can call 911 or (248) 584-5740.
